Hello, I'm Jen
Your Local Clinical Hypnotherapist in Essendon, Melbourne.
I specialise in anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, and behavioural change. I work with individuals who feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, constant worry, and self-doubt—supporting them to break free from unhelpful patterns and reconnect with clarity, confidence, and calm.
I combine evidence-based clinical hypnotherapy with strategic psychotherapy, taking a collaborative, client-centred approach. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel safe, understood, and genuinely supported. Rather than positioning myself as someone who “fixes” people, I walk alongside my clients—guiding the process while empowering them to do the powerful inner work that leads to lasting transformation.
With over 20 years of experience in high-pressure media and business environments—including senior roles in television production—I bring lived insight into stress, performance pressure, and the internal conflicts that often shape behaviour. I understand the quiet battles many people carry and offer both compassion and practical strategies to help resolve them.
I do not see behaviours as dysfunction or “self-sabotage,” but as protective patterns formed over time. Together, we identify those patterns, honour their purpose, and reshape them in alignment with the person you want to become. My work often includes addressing imposter syndrome, rebuilding self-worth, processing trauma, and supporting high performers to master their mindset.
I have a particular interest in high performance and mindset, working with professionals, creatives, and athletes to master their inner world and unlock their full potential. My work is trusted by a wide range of clients, including medical professionals, who value a grounded, ethical, and results-focused approach. I create a respectful, non-judgmental space where clients feel both supported and empowered—knowing that while I guide the process, they are the ones doing the powerful work.

Frequently Asked Questions
Not sure yet? Here are the answers to some common questions
Hypnosis is a tool to bypass the conscious mind.
The conscious mind is where we create our own barriers and limitations. By bypassing this, we can directly access the unconscious mind, where foundational changes can be made. In a state of focused relaxation, you are more able to ignore outside distractions and be more open to guided suggestions. These suggestions are tailored to your goals, aimed at improving your health and overall well-being. This approach is both safe and effective. You will be aware of everything that is going on around you. You will be able to hear me at all times. Some people describe it as a feeling of being here but not really here at the same time.
Strategic psychotherapy is a goal-oriented form of therapy that focuses on identifying and achieving specific therapeutic objectives and goals. It is results based, therefore it is less about the why you have the problem, and more focused on where you want to go. Uncovering why you do something, or why you have a particular challenge or behaviour, doesn’t actually solve the problem. By focusing on ‘how’ you do the problem we can more efficiently and effectively come up with a strategic solution to bring about lasting change.
- Problem-solving focus: It targets specific issues or symptoms that the client wants to address, rather than exploring the entire life history in depth.
- Collaborative approach: Therapist and client work together to set clear, achievable goals and develop strategies to achieve them. It is client centred and therapist lead. The client is very much the expert in having the problem and will be guided by the therapist to come up with a solution.
- Directive techniques: Direct suggestions, assignments, or tasks will be used to promote change and progression towards goals.
- Flexibility: The therapists may adapt their approach based on the client’s responses and progress. Each client is unique and it is up to the therapist to adjust accordingly.
Strategic psychotherapy draws from various therapeutic models and techniques, including cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and brief therapy approaches. Its primary objective is to empower clients by providing them with practical tools and strategies to address their concerns effectively.
Anyone who wants to overcome whatever it is holding them back in life. If you are tired of talking continuously about your problems and are ready to take action to fix the problem.
In your first therapy session, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals for treatment. We will also talk about your medical history and any current symptoms you may be experiencing. We will come up with a plan together that matches your goals and expectations.
Choosing the right hypnotherapist is crucial for achieving your desired results, and here’s why I might be the right fit for you:
- Cutting-Edge Techniques: I utilise modern hypnotherapy methods that incorporate the latest advancements in the field. This means you benefit from the most effective and up-to-date practices designed to address a range of issues.
- Results Based Approach: My approach combines the strategic elements of psychotherapy with the transformative power of hypnotherapy. This integration is based on achieving tangible, measurable results and ensuring that our sessions are focused on reaching your specific goals.
- Personalised Treatment: Each session is tailored to meet your unique needs and circumstances. By blending innovative hypnotherapy techniques with proven psychotherapy strategies, I create a customised plan that aligns with your personal objectives.
- Evidence Based Practices: My methods are grounded in the latest research and evidence, ensuring that you receive high-quality care that is both effective and reliable.
- Empathetic and Supportive Environment: I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space where you can explore your challenges and work towards meaningful change.
If you’re looking for a hypnotherapist who combines modern techniques with a results-driven approach, let’s discuss how I can help you achieve your goals.
The frequency of therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals. Many clients attend therapy once a week, while others may attend less frequently. Together we will work out a personalised treatment plan. This is results based therapy so ongoing sessions over a long period of time will not be necessary.
There is no right or wrong way to experience hypnosis. Some people say you have to go into a deep state to get the best results. This is simple not true. The success of the session is not determined by how deeply you did or didn’t go. It is determined by your willingness to participate and engage in the experience.
Here are the typical steps you can expect during a hypnosis session:
Induction: You will be guided into a hypnotic state by encouraging
relaxation. This often involves gentle awareness of your internal breath or sensations in the body, allowing any thoughts to come and go while knowing that your subconscious mind knows exactly what to do.
Suggestions: During hypnosis, you will receive gentle suggestions
designed to help you achieve your goals. For example, you will be
empowered to take control of your thoughts and learn to distinguish
between what you can and cannot control. These are just part of a
broader approach aimed at fostering a sense of clarity and strength,
reinforcing the belief that change is possible and that many positive
shifts can occur in your life.
Emerging from hypnosis: At the end of the session, once you have
been given the time to absorb all the required information, you will be
gently guided to return to the here and now with full awareness.
Hypnosis is NOT sleeping. You are in a deep state of relaxation and focused attention.
Hypnosis is not a stage act or magic trick.
Clinical hypnosis is a type of medical therapy that’s often used as part of a treatment plan that includes traditional medical approaches. You can’t be made to do anything against your will. You won’t reveal any information that you wished to remain secret, and you don’t lose control over your behaviour. Hypnosis makes it easier to absorb suggestions but doesn’t force you to have a certain experience or to do anything you don’t choose to do.
